Ratio Tables

📚 What You'll Learn

  • How to build a ratio table from a known data point
  • Using constant rate to find additional data points
  • Representing time and distance relationships in tables
  • Continuing patterns to predict many additional data points

In this video, let's work on completing a ratio table from a known data point.

In this example, we drove this vehicle for 15 seconds and in that time it traveled a distance of 380 centimeters.

Let's use this piece of information to find other points of data.

I'm going to start by representing this data in a table showing time in seconds and distance in centimeters.

Knowing that the vehicle is traveling 380 centimeters in 15 seconds and it travels at a constant rate I can use this information to determine how far the vehicle will travel in different amounts of time.

In 30 seconds, the vehicle will travel 760 centimeters.

In 45 seconds, the vehicle will travel 1140 centimeters.

And I can continue this pattern counting by 15 seconds and 380 centimeters to find many additional data points.
